Step1's first developmental Staged Reading
Tier 2 of our growing pipeline for development

The morning of February 22, 1986 - Manila, Philippines. Daniel Ramos has everything a young man in the Philippines could dream of: a good job, a supportive and well-respected family, and a loving soon-to-be fiancé, and plans to move to the United States. By the afternoon, everything will have fallen apart with the rise of the People Power Revolution. In the wake of this change, a reluctant Daniel is asked to leave everything and travel to the United States to support his family. Will he leave everything behind? The House In Quezon City follows a family caught in the midst of a peaceful revolution in Southeast Asia and the consequences everyday families face during transitions of power.

Playwright Benjamin Ernest-Abraham talks about his play THE HOUSE IN QUEZON CITY.

Benjamin Ernest-Abraham (Playwright; Step1 Director of Artist Initiatives) Ben is a director living and working in NYC. He studied Global Studies & Economics at Loyola University Maryland and then began working in the finance industry. Despite all of this, he spends most of his hours making theatre, supporting other artists, and dreaming of the next big thing. Believe it or not, Ben encountered Step1 because of a double-tap on Instagram! Inspired by the company's mission he met Jazmyn & Janelle. The rest, we can say, is history. Ben deeply believes in Step's mission of #ArtistsSupportingArtists; after all, theatre is a team sport. https://benjaminernestabraham.com/
